How to Overcome Your Limiting Beliefs Around Food

When we are children, we are constantly hearing our parents saying that we're not eating enough, and in some cases, it's that we're eating too much.

What starts to happen is that when you're a child between the age of zero and six or seven, you don't have any perspective. Psychologically, you are not able to put things into question, especially if it comes from an adult that is important in your life.

So, when your parents tell you...

  • You aren't eating enough
  • Eat for me
  • Do it because I spent so much time doing this for you
  • Normally you like that, why aren't you eating it?

...then you think you're not a good person for not eating it or for not finishing your plate, or maybe even for not thinking about the little children in Africa that are hungry.

What happens overtime, is that physically you start not trusting your body and your natural sense of satiety, which is extremely important because we all have that naturally within ourselves. We all know when we're full, we all...

We're Grateful for Gratitude!

Tis' the season to be grateful. Have you ever sat around the Thanksgiving Dinner table as everyone took turns saying what they're thankful for? As we rush around this holiday season, it's important to remember to practice gratitude throughout the season, not just one evening. Gratitude is the state of being grateful and involves expressing appreciation and thanks for the things you have in your life. You can be thankful for anything, like a beautiful day or a delicious cup of coffee. The gratitude can also be for something less tangible, like being grateful for your health or the strength of a relationship. Why is it important to practice gratitude and how to get started?

Why We're Grateful for Gratitude

There are quite a few physical and mental health benefits associated with practicing gratitude. In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. They adhere to the idea that gratitude is a positive emotion that has a...

What Could You Do with 5 Minutes!?

Self-Care

At The Limitless Lifestyle Academy, we are big proponents of self-care and taking the time for yourself before taking time and taking care of other people. Many of our women are mothers, grandmothers, wives, and many also have high-demand jobs.

Over and over again, we hear and see women taking a back seat to everything else going on in their lives. We believe in women coming first for themselves and their families, and that's not selfish. We encourage engaging in self-care because we know it's a great way to take care of your body, mind, and soul. It is essential that you stay happy and healthy for everyone around you.

Self-care is simple. All it requires is participating in activities that promote well-being and reduce stress.

Take 5 Minutes

Thinking about taking care of yourself can be overwhelming with a busy life and many demands, but that's no reason to avoid it. We have a solution for you! In our Four Seasons program, we use Precision Nutrition. This program...

What's in Your Hard Seltzer?

It's fizzy, flavorful, and easy to drink on a hot summer day! Hard or spiked seltzers are undeniably the drink of the summer!! Just like everything else we eat and drink, here at The Limitless Lifestyle Academy, we like to know WHAT is in our summertime beverages. The more you know, the better decision you'll be able to make about what you're drinking this summer.

What is it?

You might be surprised to find out that your favorite hard seltzer does not contain a distilled spirit, such as vodka or gin. How is that possible? Hard seltzers are actually classified as flavored malt beverages. They're similar to a very famous hard lemonade or Smirnoff Ice and are produced similarly to beer. YES, beer! Which is why you see breweries making their own hard seltzer!

A little sugar is added to carbonated water (seltzer) and then fermented using yeast. The yeast likes the sugar and creates the alcohol in the beverage. Some companies may also use barley or rice as a fermentable base instead...

Enjoy The Summer Food You Love!

Summer is all about fun with vacations, parties, BBQs, and picnics! This year we will be able to enjoy all of these things. While summer is a time for fun, many things can derail your wellness journey. Peer pressure, over-processed food, food high in fat and carbs, plus alcohol, but It doesn’t have to be that way.

At food camp, we track macros; keeping track of how much protein, fat, and carbs you’re getting can help you stay consistent with what you’re eating. The more consistent you are, the happier your body will be.

Not only do food campers track macros, but they also learn about what they’re eating. This is the educational component of Food Camp; if you know better, you do better. You don’t have to be perfect at tracking macros over the summer, but thinking about what’s in your food may help you make better choices.

This month, we went over typical summertime BBQ and picnic foods. The goal was to make balancing food choices easier for our...

April Superstar- Pattie Mastroianni

The first month of Spring we wanted to have a super star that is always working on ‘cleaning up’ her wellness, she lives our program daily and embraces our 6 lifestyle essentials. Learn about how Pattie has been cleaning up her nutrition, exercise, mindset, stress, how she understands her body and her connection to her community! It doesn’t have to be perfect, you just have to do it and live it.

Hear it right from Pattie

I joined Sphericality not long after I moved into the area. It must have been around 2013. It’s been a minute, as the kids say! My first class was Barre with Christine, and she mightily kicked my booty! I was winded when I got up the three flights of stairs. I couldn’t do a seated chair at all, and I could not get my leg up on the barre to stretch. But despite all the stuff I struggled with, I had a blast. I took some classes, and that was about it. A few months later, I threw out my back badly. Dorian had an Open House, and I...

Do you feel guilty when you put yourself first? Selfish even?

  • Did you relax entirely during that massage you had yesterday, or were you thinking the whole time of all of the things you need to do for your family after you finished?
  • Did you have buyer’s remorse for buying that new face mask for yourself instead of that sweatshirt that your son wants?
  • Did you cancel your gym membership because you work during the day and can only go at night, and the family expects a home-cooked meal prepared by none other than YOU every evening?

Unfortunately, it is pervasive for women to feel guilty about putting themselves first, let alone doing it at all!!! (especially when it comes to their wellness.

Lack of self-care contributes HUGELY to the massive impact of bodily changes in mid-life.  You know what I’m talking about, ladies!!!!!  And more often than not, the guilt becomes an excuse (or maybe the excuse becomes guilt?) to put ourselves in any other place but first.

When we spend so much time focusing on others, we may not...

Deb's Story of Community and Support.

How It Started

My journey with Sphericality and the Limitless Lifestyle Academy is really about how I came to value and participate in an amazing community. Anyone who has met Dorian knows that she is all about the community of women.

When I first joined Sphericality, I pictured this community as a group of people sweating together and conquering calories burned. For a while, that is all that Sphericality meant to me. Great exercise classes full of warm, friendly members and welcoming coaches who would kick my butt.

Over the years, I have seen my relationship with the community of Sphericality change and grow. Previously, I had seen hints at a greater sense of community when I participated in the "Little Black Dress Challenge" and the "The New Way to Wellness 6 Week Challenge". I had my accountability buddies who kept me on track with my daily food consumption and exercise goals. We swapped recipes and cheered each other on. The entire Challenge community met every week, and we...

December's Superstar: Robin Albanese

As we start a new year, we decided to shine a light on a client committed to her wellness year after year. Robin Albanese has been a long-time client with The Academy and Sphericality (our brick and mortar studio.) She has been an active member since the fall of 2013.

Robin's Wellness Journey

Robin had spent years commuting to NYC before joining us, sitting at a computer, and traveling for work. She also had a child late in life, and the weight gain during pregnancy combined with her sedentary lifestyle had caught up to her. She was interested in the barre classes offered, as they were the type of exercise recommended by her chiropractor. A neighbor invited her to check it out, and she's been with us ever since!

Her favorite part of our programming is the community of strong and committed women. Her second favorite element of our program is the classes.

"Dorian and the instructors are super-talented, brilliant, and fun! I can usually count on a giggle or two each time I take a...
